White Bear Lake Watchdog
Fair, balanced, and keeping a watchful eye on things!
White Bear Lake Watchdog is comprised of a group of concerned citizens who firmly believe that one shouldn't complain about what they don't become involved in. It is also true that one cannot be a catalyst for change without the complete set of facts related to each issue.
WBLWatchdog.com has been formed to promote honesty, integrity, responsibility, accountability, and disclosure by elected, appointed and government officials through the exposure of facts and issues which are often not reported to the public.
Like our criminal justice system and the media for example, we utilize sources that require anonymity, so that important information is disseminated without fear of retribution against the messenger.
From Watergate, Iran Contra, Whitewater, the Clinton-Lewinsky sex scandal, the Jack Abramoff influence-peddling scandal, to the question of the facts and intelligence leading to the war in Iraq, “unnamed sources” have jumpstarted the disclosure of important information to the public, prompting further investigation by law enforcement, prosecutors and the press regarding character challenged public officials.
For the doubters among us, other examples of the importance of anonymous sources include “crime buster” hotlines, reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement, reporting code violations to local authorities, etc. Heck, with sports considered as “culture” by a large percentage of the public, the print, radio and TV media constantly report the “imminent” trade of a sports figure by an “unnamed source”.
We believe character matters, more so than most things that can be seen, measured or documented. Character is what we have to depend on when we entrust power over our children, our society and ourselves to government officials.
To paraphrase a famous political slogan:
"It’s the message, not the messenger, my friends!"
